Definitions

Gentrification A process in which a poor area of a city experiences an influx of middle-class or wealthy people who renovate and rebuild homes and businesses and which often results in an increase in property values and the displacement of earlier, usually poorer residents,

Household income categories
* Very Low-Income (VLI) A household that has an income over 30% and not more than 50% of the local area Median Family Income.
* Extremely Low-Income (ELI) A household that has an income not more than 30% of the Median Family Income.

Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) Local regulations that attempt to create affordable housing by encouraging or requiring developers to set aside a percentage of housing units to be sold or rented at below-market prices.
